Ministry for Youth
Youth Group
Our youth (middle school & high school age) meet several times a year to work on special projects and activities such as packing backpacks for foster kids with “Packs of Hope,” collecting food donations for Community Table, preparing for the summer mission trip, and Family Fun Night in the summer. They also meet for fun activities such as mini-golf or a games night.
In the summers, we have a “one-room” Summer Sunday School of crafts and activities led by various members of the congregation. Youth are invited to act as helpers or to simply participate in the activity.
For up-to-the-minute details, contact the church office or visit our calendar of upcoming events.
Acolytes
Youth (as young as 5th-graders) are invited to attend training and serve as acolytes for Sunday worship. Interested youth please contact us for training information and to be scheduled for service as an acolyte.
Confirmation
Confirmation for youth is offered every couple of years by Pastor Karin Kilpatric. At the end of their study there is a special youth service when these teens will be confirmed into the church.
We are proud of our confirmands for taking this big step toward adulthood!
Youth in 7th, 8th & 9th grade are welcome. Please contact the church office if you are interested in the next class.
Mission Opportunities
Youth of First United participate in a summer service trip every other year or so, in addition to various mission & service projects throughout the year. Youth participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring in February, and host the Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser for mission in April. In August, youth pack backpacks for kids in Archway Housing & Services. Please contact us for this year’s dates.
