Posted by Admin Asst on Mar 8, 2025 in | Comments Off on Special Congregational MeetingFirst United Church of Arvada’s Council of Directors is calling a Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 11:00 am following worship both in-person and on Zoom. The purpose of the meeting is for congregational approval of a Council decision to transfer $58,200.00 from the Land Sale Proceeds Fund to cover the cost of foundation repair. We will also approve the minutes from our Annual Congregational meeting on January 26, 2025 (attached to this email). We do need a quorum, so please plan on attending it. The meeting should be brief. Proposal to FUCA Council:
The Building Committee is recommending the expenditure of $58,200.00 to solve the foundation problems at the Church. We request Council’s approval so the congregation can vote in a special meeting as soon as possible. We are targeting May (now possibly mid-April) to schedule time for the work to be done. We recommend a swift discussion and vote as the Building Committee has several years of understanding of what is needed. It is anticipated construction will last 2 weeks and be completed in two phases. In Phase One, helical piers will be installed to shore up the foundation. In Phase Two, a mud jacking material will be injected to stabilize the concrete slab. This is not a budgeted item and the congregation will need to approve using funds from the Land Sale Proceeds Fund. The Building Committee has done their job for the past three years. This is a complex task. We were diligent in receiving estimates from four different companies. It is clear that this work needs to be done.
