Book Club offers 2 books for Oct 23 discussion!
Book Club has 2 book choices this time! Both can be borrowed from the church via a book kit we’ve checked out from the library: The Correspondent by Virginia Evans and My Friends by Fredrik Backman. Read both or choose the one book you most want to read. Discussions are on Friday October 23: 1-2pm discuss The Correspondent , 2-3pm discuss My Friends. Come for one or both. Supporting the CROP Walk for Hunger Relief
CROP Hunger Walks are community-based fundraising events held in cities and towns across the US, created to support the global mission of Church World Service. CWS is a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement, and disaster. 25% of the funds raised are returned to the host community to support local hunger fighting efforts. First United’s Crop Walk takes place at La Foret on Saturday, October 3. You can share in the experience by donating! We will collect through the end of October. You can give cash, check (write CROP in the memo line) or online at our website. All financial
contributions will be forwarded on to Church World Service. You can also give through our team page.

Sunday Oct 25, 11:00am-Congregational Meeting
The congregational meeting known as the Fall Planning meeting will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, following our Sunday morning worship service. We will be meeting in-person as well as via Zoom. We need a 20% quorum, so members, please plan to remain following the service or logon through the Zoom link at 11:00 am. Main topics include:
• Approval of Minutes from the Annual Congregational Meeting –January 25, 2026
• 2026 Budget Report
• Approval of Land Sale Proceeds Fund disbursement to update fire alarm system
• Selecting Nominating Committee – Please let the church office or Pastor Karin know ahead of the meeting if you are interested in being on this committee.

now through Dec 31–Kids’ Hands-On Kindness Campaign
The FUCA Engage & Explore class (grades 4-5) and Middle School kids are officially registered with the United States of Kindness by Kindland. Beginning September 13, they are taking on a challenge to collectively complete 250 combined acts of kindness by December 31. The kids will be encouraged to look for opportunities to show kindness throughout the week at school, at home, and in the community. They will keep track of their acts of kindness and then record them during Sunday School with an official tracker. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a difference—and one simple act can create a ripple effect that inspires kindness in others. We feel this is an important value to teach the kids and a great hands-on way for them to at least think about how their actions affect others.
