thru end of April–Jeffco Serving Kids Spring Collection
What is Serving Kids? The Serving Kids program provides new and near-new clothing, including jeans, coats, shoes and more, to Jeffco school children who are in need. School personnel are usually the first to recognize the need. Clothing is delivered to the employee, who then gives it to the student. The program is supported with donations of children’s clothing and cash from around the community. Cash donations are used to purchased new socks and underwear for each student, as well as new high demand items such as jeans and sneakers. Serving Kids collects gently used and laundered clothing appropriate for school, sizes 3T to adult XXXL.
Sunday May 3–FUCA Scholarship Apply or Donate
The FUCA Scholarship Fund is designed to help students offset some of the costs of higher education. FUCA awards money based on several criteria, including academic achievement, demonstrated talent or skill, a clearly defined goal, and financial need. Applicants must be a member of a family belonging to FUCA or be sponsored by a member and have roots in Arvada. Applications must be completed by Sunday, May 3 and can be obtained by contacting the church office. Scholarship Awards will be announced on Graduation Sunday, May 18 during church services. Contact the church office to obtain an application or with questions.
The spendable portion of the Scholarship fund is in need of additional monies. Money can be donated to one of two arms of the fund, directly into Memorial Scholarship Spendable Fund (money can be used in the current year for scholarship awards), or into the Memorial Scholarship Fund (added to the principal of the fund). Contact the church office with questions about these choices. You can give via check. Please indicate Scholarship and spendable or principal in the memo line. Make sure to indicate whether it is for the spendable fund or principal fund. You can also give here to the Spendable Fund.
