Intro to the Prophets

Who are the prophets? What’s their significance to today? Robbie Martin will give a short overview of some of the prophets, and open the class for discussion this Sunday, Feb 17 at 8:30am. (All are welcome.)

Children (elementary age) and youth (middle & high school age) are dismissed about 20 minutes into the service for Worship & Wonder and Youth Sunday school. Nursery is provided for younger children. Worship concludes about 11:00AM, with coffee and fellowship afterward.

Blessing BagAll who want to help assemble Blessing Bags with Mission & Service please stay! These are bags you can carry in your car to hand out to people asking for help along your way. Items that are being collected ahead of time include snacks, toiletries, socks and gloves. (Here’s the list.)

Building & Finance Board Meeting
Feb 20 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

This is the newly formed board that will harness different groups of people interested in helping keep our building in good condition, improving things about our building, or looking at the financial side of things. You don’t have to participate in all parts, but if you have a specific area of interest to help with, please come to this meeting!

Prophets: Isaiah
Feb 24 @ 8:30 am – 9:45 am

If you open the Bible near its the center, you might find yourself in the book of Isaiah. This Sunday Jim Sullivan leads us in discussion about this prophet of the Bible. In later weeks we’ll look at other prophets of the Bible, but also branch into poets and artists as prophets, our inner journeys of prophecy and explore who today’s prophets are. All are welcome.

  • What does a Mission Trip or Summer Camp offer? Come gather around the fire, so to speak, this Sunday at 10am. Rev. Karen Howe explores some of the fun and deeper spiritual things summer camp, retreats and mission trips can offer. And she’s not just talking about youth opportunities. La Foret offers adult camps, too. And First United’s July Mission/Service Trip to Alamosa is for more than just youth. It’s an interactive “sermon” for youth and adults alike.

Common Earth Startup Meeting

It’s time to get ready to garden in Common Earth Community Garden! There’s a garden start up meeting on March 9, 10am at First United. Meet new gardeners and pay fees for 2019 gardening season. Go over the rules of the garden, including volunteer hours. Also, there are opportunities to join the steering committee in these positions: communication coordinator, volunteer coordinator, maintenance coordinator.
