It’s become a tradition for First United to bring in animals from a nearby farm to participate with our people volunteers in the live nativity in front of our church on Christmas Eve. First, we celebrate with an indoor service of stories, candles and music, starting at 5:30. (The animals arrive around 5:45pm.) Near the end of the service, we journey outdoors with candles to surround the live nativity singing “Silent Night” and “Joy to the World” together. Then we enjoy cookies and apple cider. Please join us!
Children (K-5) and Youth (middle & high school age) are dismissed about 20 minutes in to the service for a Combined Sunday school activity. (Nursery provided for younger children.) Worship concludes about 11:00AM, with coffee and fellowship afterward.
Today:

For the month of January we will look at Richard Rohr’s book Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life in which he explores the different work (spiritually, emotionally) we are called to do for a meaningful life in early adulthood and later adulthood. As Rohr puts it: “The first task (first half of life) is to build a strong container or identity; the second is to find the contents that the container was meant to hold.” Come dig into Rohr’s ideas with us! Meetings are at 8:30am Sundays in the Fireside Room, Jan 6, 13, 20 & 27. (You’re welcome to come even if you don’t have the book.)
