Sweetness of WaterBook Club is reading The Sweetness of Water by Nathan Harris this month. It’s “a historical page-turner about social friction so powerful it ignites a whole town.” Books are available for signing out from the church. (Check the Welcome Table.) The discussion gathering will be at a church member’s house on Friday April 28 at 1pm Please contact the church office for more information.

Please join the new Adult Ed class on Sunday mornings at 8:30am in the Fireside Room (started April 19). Cathedral on Fire by Brooks Berndt forms the basis of the discussion. It’s a look at the climate crisis and what unique and vitally needed gifts churches bring to this discussion. (Read a sample here.) You are welcome to this discussion even if you aren’t able to read the book!

Worship (in person & on Zoom)

First United Church of Arvada is open for in-person Worship in addition to offering our services over Zoom. For in-person services, masks are optional. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask or are not feeling well, we encourage you to continue to wear a mask on Sunday mornings or join us via Zoom. Request Zoom link here.

The nursery is open.  Elementary age kids will be invited to leave the worship service partway through to attend Worship & Wonder.  Kids are always welcome in the sanctuary with you or, if you prefer, you can bring your child(ren) to the foyer and still participate in the service, but with some extra wiggle room.

Youth Event: Packs of Hope

​Sunday May 7, 10am–Youth Event: Packs of Hope
The Youth (high school and middle school age kids) will be packing backpacks for foster kids with Packs of Hope on Sunday May 7. Meet at the church at 10:00 and then we’ll head to Packs of Hope at 10:15, returning to the church at 12:30 (or when we complete the work). Please invite friends if you like! Contact Karin Gallup for details.

Scholarship Applications Due
May 7 @ 12:00 pm – 12:00 pm

The FUCA Scholarship Fund is designed to help students offset some of the costs of higher education. FUCA awards money based on several criteria, including academic achievement, demonstrated talent or skill, a clearly defined goal and financial need. Applicants must be a member of a family belonging to FUCA or be sponsored by a member and have roots in Arvada. Applications must be completed by Sunday, May 7 and can be obtained by contacting the church office. Scholarship Awards will be announced on May 21 during church services. Contact the church office with questions.
