Youth Activities

Opening day of Sunday School

First United Church of Arvada offers a variety of educational, fellowship and mission and service programs for our church youth.

Children join adults in worship for the first part of the service, then following Children's Time, adjourn for Sunday School. Sunday School is offered for ages pre-K through 12th grade. Our curriculum is called Seasons of the Spirit and it connects to the Bible verse of the day through real life experiences. We also offer nursery service during church for those too young for Sunday School.

Every summer our Christian Education Committee becomes very creative in implementing Vacation Bible School programs for the younger children in June.

Later in the summer our older youth can take part in our summer mission trip to La Puente Home in Alamosa. For three to five days the kids help out with special projects at the only homeless shelter in the San Luis Valley.

In September our fourth graders receive Bibles, and in October you can expect some sort of Fall Celebration. In December the children of the church lend their talents to a musical Christmas Pageant. Confirmation classes are also available for kids eighth grade and older.

In addition there are several camps and retreats for kids of all ages to attend throughout the year. To raise funds for these activities we have an annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser. The youth transform our sanctuary into an Italian restaurant and become our servers for the evening.
