Music Activities
Our music program at FUCA is both diversified and exciting! We encourage both adults and children to explore their potential and abilities to worship God through music.
We have a small adult choir which sings about once a month and rehearses on Thursday nights. Occasionally the women sing special music, and the men often prepare special pieces for Mothers' Day and other occasions.
For a congregation of about 165 members, we are blessed with many musical talents. Several times a month special music is prepared, either vocal or instrumental. Our organist, Mary Ann Fraser, also plays the guitar and piano. Our choir director, Sue Wedaa, is an accomplished flutist and vocalist. Other members play guitar, flute, oboe, and piano.
We have enjoyed quartet music, and other outside groups, and offer many opportunities for soloists.
There is an adult bell choir which plays our four octaves of Schulmerich Bells about once a month. The bells add an extra special dimension to worship.
We encourage our youth to participate whenever the occasion arises, whether it be in our Children's Bell Choir, song interpretation through dance, or our yearly Christmas pageant.
All are welcome to sing with our choir or perform solo or duet works throughout the year. We love to explore special music at Christmas and Easter, often preparing cantatas and solos, accompanied by piano, organ, guitar, or flute.
The exhilarating sound of our WE Wilson pipe organ inspires us to raise our voices in worship and praise as we sing. We encourage organ recitals by talented keyboardists in the area as well. The instrument is a unified pipe organ with two manuals and full AGO pedalboard. It has six ranks of pipes: 8 Principal, 8 Gedackt, 8 Gemshorn, 4 Principal, 8 Celeste, and 8 Trumpets. It was designed by Dewey W. Layton and was installed in 1987.
