Goals
Many of our members have worshipped together for over 40 years and have watched each others' children grow up to have children of their own. Others have joined our congregation within the past year.
While we’re not perfect, we strive to evolve and grow daily. Our goal is to embrace many more community members, and in doing so, reflect the commitment to diversity of our denomination, the United Church of Christ, and live the message of Jesus:
Inclusiveness -- Again, we want to emphasize that we are an inclusive community, pluralistic and accepting.
Open and Affirming -- First United Church of Arvada has voted overwhelmingly to be an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ. We welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people to be a full part of all of the ministries and of the leadership of the congregation.
Global Ministries -- Our global ministries are extended by our support of and participation in the ministries of the United Church of Christ. And, yes, as our denomination emphasizes, we do believe that “God is still speaking…”
Service to Others -- Worship is guided by service to others which takes many forms, all toward the goal of peace and justice in the community and the world.
