Join Us in a Year of Celebration of Our 50th Anniversary!
First United Church of Arvada didn't come into being overnight.
It took the hard work of a number of dedicated souls
over a period of time to bring our new congregation into being.
So, rather than celebrating just a single day, we're celebrating for most of a year... from August 27, 2011 to June 10, 2012!
Please help spread the word to former members, family, and friends of FUCA. And keep your eye on this site for announcements of upcoming events, interesting history, and other tidbits that will add to your enjoyment of our jubilee celebration!

Celebrate the 90sPlease join us for our "CRUISING THROUGH THE 90s AT FUCA" celebration.
Our theme is The Titanic, FUCA. This Titanic however is a success, just like the popular movie 'Titanic' of the 1990s was a success at the box office. Come cruise with us. Experience the most popular cuisine of the 90s at First United. Enjoy photos of the 1990s on our big screen in the sanctuary. Come hear poignant, humorous memories our members share. Reserve the date -- Saturday, April 21st at 6:00 pm.
What we want you to do: Write down a memory to share -- just a paragraph on a 3 X 5 card. We'll have time together to get up and tell our stories. Too shy? Just write it down and someone will read it for you. We'd like to remember especially La Foret experiences, Kingstone Ranch stories, Women's Ballet and Logging Society memories, memories of Karin Kilpatric as the Director of Family Ministries.
Remember this is a cruise ship -- do you want to share a song that was especially meaningful to you in the nineties? Entertainment is welcome. Keep it short. We want to hear from as many of you as possible. We'd like to coordinate this, if possible, with the photos we'll be projecting. We'd like you to write down your memory and send it to either Robbie Martin (robillmartin@msn.com) or Peggy Swanson (drpswanson@juno.com) prior to the event.
Pack your bags and come on board.

asking for their support in establishing “a liberal church with vision and strong leadership.”
“We believe that if we can get approval of this program promptly, and can secure a very good site immediately before the good ones are taken up by business or picked up by fly-by-night churches, we will be in strategic situation as far as this area is concerned.”
“We hope that the Board of Home Missions will join with Evangelical and Reformed Board of National Missions and the Conference in this urgently needed ministry.”
The decision to start a new church in Arvada was based on a survey done in the summer of 1960 of church affiliation showing the following: “3,495 calls were made, 20.2% were Methodists, 19.7% Roman Catholic, 10.9% Baptist, 10.8% Presbyterian, 10.6% Lutheran, 3.9% Episcopal, 3.3% Christian, 1.6% Mormon, 1.4% United Church of Christ, or 70 families: 1.3% Church of Christ, 1.6% Christian Science, 5.65% other churches. There were 4.9% of those called upon, or 251 households, that gave no church affiliation.”
And with no congregation, no name, no land, no “Church Center” and lots of nothing but with lots of faith in the future, this was the beginning of what would become the First United Church of Arvada.
